Artist Info
Birth:1989Madara Petersone is a Latvian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented cellist and chamber musician. Born on May 22, 1987, in Riga, Latvia, Petersone grew up in a family of musicians. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist, so it was only natural that Petersone would develop a love for music at a young age. Petersone began playing the cello when she was just six years old, and by the time she was 12, she had already won several competitions in Latvia. She continued to hone her skills as a cellist throughout her teenage years, studying with some of the best teachers in Latvia and attending masterclasses with renowned cellists from around the world. In 2005, Petersone was accepted into the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Eleonora Testelec. During her time at the academy, Petersone won several awards and competitions, including the Grand Prix at the International Cello Competition in Liezen, Austria, and the First Prize at the International Cello Competition in Tallinn, Estonia. After graduating from the academy in 2010, Petersone continued to pursue her passion for music, performing as a soloist and chamber musician in Latvia and abroad. She has collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including pianist Andras Schiff, violinist Gidon Kremer, and cellist Mischa Maisky. One of Petersone's most notable performances was at the 2014 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where she performed alongside pianist Khatia Buniatishvili. The performance was well-received by the audience, and Petersone was praised for her technical skill and emotional depth. In addition to her performances, Petersone is also a dedicated teacher, and she has taught cello at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Riga Cathedral Choir School. She is passionate about passing on her knowledge and love of music to the next generation of musicians. Petersone has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the Latvian Great Music Award, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a musician in Latvia. She has also been awarded the Latvian Culture Capital Foundation Award and the Latvian Radio Klasika Award. Despite her success, Petersone remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice and perform regularly, always striving to improve her skills and bring joy to audiences around the world. With her talent, passion, and dedication, Madara Petersone is sure to continue making a name for herself in the world of classical music for years to come.More....
