Abraham Appleman was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on August 22, 1945, in New York City, United States. From a young age, Appleman showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional skills. Appleman's early musical education was under the tutelage of his father, who was a violinist himself. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School of Music, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. During his time at Juilliard, Appleman studied under the guidance of renowned violinists such as Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay. After completing his studies, Appleman began his professional career as a violinist. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras. In 1970, he joined the New York Philharmonic as a member of the first violin section. He remained with the orchestra for over 20 years and was a prominent member of the ensemble. Throughout his career, Appleman was known for his exceptional musicianship and technical prowess. He was a versatile performer who was equally at home playing solo repertoire as he was playing in an orchestra. He was also a sought-after chamber musician and performed with some of the world's leading ensembles. One of the highlights of Appleman's career was his performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic in 1978. The performance was widely acclaimed, and Appleman's interpretation of the concerto was praised for its sensitivity and musicality. He also performed as a soloist with other leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In addition to his work as a performer, Appleman was also a respected teacher. He taught at the Juilliard School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. In 1972, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is one of the most prestigious awards for young musicians in the United States.
