Role:ComposerBirth:April 23, 1991 in Paris, FranceJean Rondeau is a French harpsichordist and pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative interpretations of classical music. Born on January 30, 1991, in Paris, France, Rondeau grew up in a musical family and began playing the piano at a young age. However, it was not until he discovered the harpsichord that he found his true passion. Rondeau began studying the harpsichord at the age of 6 with Blandine Verlet, a renowned French harpsichordist. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and went on to study with other notable harpsichordists such as Pierre Hantaï and Olivier Baumont. Rondeau also studied piano with Brigitte Engerer and took courses in musicology at the Sorbonne University in Paris. In 2012, Rondeau won first prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges, Belgium, which launched his career as a soloist. He has since performed at major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Lincoln Center in New York. Rondeau is known for his innovative interpretations of classical music, which often incorporate improvisation and elements of jazz and pop music. He has recorded several albums, including his debut album "Imagine" in 2015, which features his own arrangements of works by Bach, Scarlatti, and Rameau. The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Victoire de la Musique, the French equivalent of a Grammy Award. In 2017, Rondeau released his second album, "Vertigo," which features works by Bach, Rameau, and Royer. The album showcases Rondeau's virtuosic playing and his ability to bring new life to classical music. It was also nominated for a Victoire de la Musique and won the prestigious Diapason d'Or award. Rondeau has also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles, including the baroque ensemble Nevermind and the jazz pianist Thomas Enhco. In 2019, he performed with the Orchestre National de France under the direction of Emmanuel Krivine, playing Bach's Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings in D minor. In addition to his performances, Rondeau is also a passionate educator and has taught masterclasses at several universities and conservatories around the world. He is currently a professor of harpsichord at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Rondeau's innovative approach to classical music and his virtuosic playing have earned him numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his Victoire de la Musique nominations and his Diapason d'Or award, he has also been awarded the Prix des Radios Francophones Publiques and the ECHO Klassik award. Despite his young age, Jean Rondeau has already established himself as one of the most exciting and innovative classical musicians of his generation. His passion for the harpsichord and his ability to bring new life to classical music have earned him a devoted following and a place among the great musicians of our time.More....
