Oksana Lyniv is a Ukrainian conductor who has made a name for herself in the classical music world. Born on September 6, 1978, in Brody, Ukraine, Lyniv grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a conductor and her mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that Lyniv would follow in their footsteps. Lyniv began her musical education at the Lysenko Music School in Lviv, Ukraine, where she studied piano and choral conducting. She then went on to study orchestral conducting at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, where she graduated with honors in 2000. After completing her studies, Lyniv began her career as a conductor, working with various orchestras in Ukraine and abroad. In 2004, she was appointed as the assistant conductor of the Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she worked for several years. In 2013, Lyniv made her debut as a conductor at the National Opera of Ukraine in Kyiv, where she conducted a production of Verdi's "La Traviata." This performance was a major milestone in Lyniv's career, as it marked her first time conducting a full opera. Since then, Lyniv has gone on to conduct many other operas and orchestral works, both in Ukraine and abroad. Some of her most notable performances include conducting the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the Vienna Musikverein in 2017, and conducting the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2019. Lyniv has also received numerous awards and accolades for her work as a conductor. In 2017, she was awarded the "Woman of the Year" award by the Ukrainian magazine "Viva!" for her contributions to the arts. In 2018, she was named the principal conductor of the Graz Opera in Austria, becoming the first woman to hold this position in the opera's history. In addition to her work as a conductor, Lyniv is also a passionate advocate for music education. She has worked with various youth orchestras and music schools in Ukraine, and has spoken out about the importance of music education for young people.
