Elvira Galassi was born on May 5, 1980, in Rome, Italy. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a singer. From a young age, Elvira showed a natural talent for music and began studying the harp at the age of six. Elvira's early years were spent studying under the guidance of her father, who was her first teacher. She quickly developed a love for the harp and began to excel in her studies. By the age of 12, she had already won several local competitions and was gaining recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. In 1994, Elvira was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she continued her studies under the tutelage of renowned harpist, Letizia Belmondo. During her time at the conservatory, Elvira honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the harp and its place in classical music. After graduating from the conservatory in 1998, Elvira began to make a name for herself in the classical music world. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile harpist, capable of playing a wide range of styles and genres. Her performances were praised for their technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth. In 2001, Elvira was invited to perform at the prestigious Salzburg Festival in Austria. Her performance was a resounding success, and she was praised for her virtuosity and musicality. This performance marked a turning point in Elvira's career, and she began to receive invitations to perform at other major festivals and concert halls around the world. Over the years, Elvira has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She has taught masterclasses at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris. Elvira's recordings have also received critical acclaim. Her recording of the Debussy harp works was praised for its sensitivity and musicality, while her recording of the Ravel harp works was hailed as a definitive interpretation of these pieces.
