Camerata Barcelona is a classical music ensemble based in Barcelona, Spain. The group was founded in 2005 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to bring their art to a wider audience. The founding members of Camerata Barcelona were violinists Lina Tur Bonet and Pablo Suárez Calero, violist Laia Tur Bonet, cellist Guillem Cabré Salagre, and harpsichordist Ignasi Jordà. All of the members were trained in some of the most prestigious music schools in Europe, including the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. From the beginning, Camerata Barcelona set out to explore the rich repertoire of chamber music, from Baroque to contemporary works. The group's performances were characterized by their energy, precision, and passion for the music they played. They quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting young ensembles in Spain, and were invited to perform at some of the country's most prestigious music festivals. One of the highlights of Camerata Barcelona's early career was their performance at the Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias in 2007. The group's performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons was met with critical acclaim, and they were invited back to the festival the following year to perform Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. In 2009, Camerata Barcelona released their debut album, featuring works by Bach, Handel, and Telemann. The album was well-received by critics and helped to establish the group as one of the leading ensembles in Spain. Over the years, Camerata Barcelona has collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, violinist Isabelle Faust, and conductor Jordi Savall. They have also performed at some of the most prestigious music venues in Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Berliner Philharmonie. In 2015, Camerata Barcelona was awarded the National Music Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. The award recognized the group's contribution to the promotion of classical music in Spain and their commitment to excellence in performance. Today, Camerata Barcelona continues to be one of the most exciting and innovative ensembles in the world of classical music. They are known for their adventurous programming, which combines well-known works with lesser-known gems from the repertoire. They are also committed to bringing classical music to new audiences, and regularly perform in schools and community centers throughout Spain. The current members of Camerata Barcelona are Lina Tur Bonet and Pablo Suárez Calero on violin, Laia Tur Bonet on viola, Guillem Cabré Salagre on cello, and Ignasi Jordà on harpsichord. Together, they continue to explore the rich and diverse world of chamber music, and to inspire audiences with their passion and artistry.
