She quickly gained a reputation as a talented soprano and was soon performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras and opera companies in the world. One of Darian's most notable performances was in 1955 when she sang the role of Mimi in a production of Puccini's La Boheme at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
