His parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue music from a young age. Resch showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Resch's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the Vienna Conservatory when he was just six years old. He studied under some of the most prominent music teachers of the time, including Richard Robert and Emil von Sauer. In 1943, Resch made his debut as a solo pianist at the Vienna Musikverein. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Resch's career as a professional musician. In 1948, Resch moved to the United States to further his career. He settled in New York City and quickly established himself as one of the most talented pianists in the country.
