Alexandra Papastefanou is a Greek classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 15, 1985, in Athens, Greece, Papastefanou showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with renowned piano teachers in Greece. Papastefanou's musical education continued at the Athens Conservatory, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Dimitris Toufexis. She later went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany, where she received her diploma with honors. During her time in Munich, Papastefanou had the opportunity to work with some of the most distinguished pianists of our time, including Elisabeth Leonskaja, András Schiff, and Murray Perahia. Papastefanou's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the early 2000s, when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2002, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, and in 2003, she was awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. These early successes helped to establish Papastefanou as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the years, Papastefanou has performed in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Papastefanou's career came in 2010, when she was invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Her performance of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world and received widespread critical acclaim. In addition to her career as a performer, Papastefanou is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She is also a frequent guest lecturer at universities and conservatories around the world. Papastefanou's repertoire is vast and varied, ranging from the works of Bach and Mozart to contemporary composers such as György Ligeti and Arvo Pärt.
