Oslo Wind Ensemble is a classical music ensemble based in Oslo, Norway. The ensemble was founded in 1976 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for wind music. The founding members included Jan O. Braaten, Kjell Erik Arnesen, and Per Flemström. The ensemble's main members have changed over the years, but the current members include Kjell Erik Arnesen (flute), Per Flemström (oboe), Jan O. Braaten (clarinet), Torbjørn Eftestøl (bassoon), and Geir Ulseth (horn). All of the members are accomplished musicians who have performed with various orchestras and ensembles in Norway and abroad. Oslo Wind Ensemble has performed at numerous venues and festivals in Norway and abroad. Some of the highlights of their performances include their appearance at the Bergen International Festival in 1980, where they performed works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. They also performed at the Oslo Chamber Music Festival in 1982, where they played works by Nielsen, Hindemith, and Poulenc. In addition to their performances, Oslo Wind Ensemble has also received several awards and recognitions. In 1983, they were awarded the Spellemannprisen, which is the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy Awards, for their album "Wind Music by Norwegian Composers." They were also awarded the Edvard Prize in 1990 for their album "Wind Music by Edvard Grieg." Oslo Wind Ensemble has recorded several albums over the years, featuring works by Norwegian and international composers. Some of their most notable recordings include "Wind Music by Norwegian Composers," "Wind Music by Edvard Grieg," and "Wind Music by Mozart." The ensemble has also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles over the years. In 1995, they collaborated with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra to perform Mozart's "Serenade No. 10 for Winds and Strings." They also collaborated with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in 2001 to perform works by Nielsen and Sibelius. Oslo Wind Ensemble has been praised for their technical skill and musicality.
