Mathieu Dupouy is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. Born in Toulouse, France in 1987, Dupouy began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with several renowned teachers in France, including Jean-Marc Luisada and Michel Beroff, before continuing his education at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Dupouy's early career was marked by a series of impressive competition wins, including first prize at the International Piano Competition of Brest in 2006 and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in 2007. He also received the prestigious Prix de la Fondation de France in 2008, which allowed him to pursue further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover, Germany. Since then, Dupouy has established himself as a sought-after performer on the international concert circuit, appearing at major venues and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He has collaborated with many leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and has worked with conductors such as Paavo Järvi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Sir Simon Rattle. Dupouy's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy, and has recorded several albums of their works. His recordings have received critical acclaim, with Gramophone magazine praising his "impeccable technique and musicality" and the BBC Music Magazine describing him as "a pianist of rare sensitivity and insight." In addition to his performing career, Dupouy is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses at institutions such as the Royal College of Music in London and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He is currently a professor of piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover. Despite his many accomplishments, Dupouy remains humble and focused on his art. In an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro, he said, "For me, the most important thing is always the music itself. I try to serve the music as best I can, to bring out its beauty and its meaning. That is what drives me as a musician." In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the world of classical music, Dupouy has received numerous awards and honors, including the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government in 2019. He continues to inspire audiences and fellow musicians alike with his passion and dedication to his craft.
