Carol Shannon was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Shannon showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Shannon's love for music only intensified. She began studying the violin at the age of eight and quickly became proficient in the instrument. By the time she was a teenager, Shannon was already performing in local orchestras and winning awards for her musical abilities. After graduating from high school, Shannon attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Shannon honed her skills and developed a unique style that would set her apart from other classical musicians. In 2005, Shannon made her debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The performance was a huge success, and Shannon quickly became known as one of the most talented young violinists in the world. Over the next few years, Shannon continued to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. She also began recording albums, with her first album, "Carol Shannon Plays Brahms," being released in 2008. In 2010, Shannon was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. The award recognized her exceptional talent and potential for a long and successful career in music. In 2012, Shannon performed at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, playing a solo rendition of "God Save the Queen." The performance was watched by millions of people around the world and cemented Shannon's status as one of the most talented and respected musicians of her generation. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Shannon is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the most renowned chamber groups in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet.
