The group is made up of 12 guitarists who are all graduates of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. Forestare has gained a reputation for their unique sound and innovative approach to classical music. Jean-Philippe Tremblay was born in Quebec City in 1975. He began playing the guitar at the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for classical music. Tremblay went on to study at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he honed his skills as a guitarist and composer. After graduating, Tremblay began working as a freelance musician, performing with various ensembles and orchestras. In 2002, Tremblay founded Forestare with the goal of creating a new sound in classical music. The group's name is a combination of the words "forest" and "guitar," reflecting their connection to nature and their use of the guitar as their primary instrument. Forestare's repertoire includes a mix of classical music, contemporary pieces, and original compositions. One of Forestare's most notable performances was at the 2006 Montreal International Jazz Festival. The group performed a set of original compositions that showcased their unique sound and virtuosic guitar playing. The performance was well-received by both critics and audiences, and helped to establish Forestare as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2008, Forestare released their debut album, "Forestare." The album featured a mix of classical pieces and original compositions, and received critical acclaim for its innovative approach to classical music. The album was nominated for a Juno Award, Canada's top music award, in the category of Classical Album of the Year. Forestare has also collaborated with a number of other musicians and ensembles over the years. In 2010, they performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as part of the Montreal en Lumière festival.
