She was born on 12th May 1960 in Paris, France. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue music from a young age. Christine showed a keen interest in music and started playing the piano when she was just five years old. Christine's parents recognized her talent and enrolled her in a music school where she received formal training in piano. She showed exceptional skills and quickly progressed through the grades. By the time she was a teenager, Christine had already won several local competitions and had started performing in public. In 1978, Christine was accepted into the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Pierre Sancan. She excelled in her studies and graduated with top honors in 1982. During her time at the Conservatoire, Christine also received training in chamber music and composition. After completing her studies, Christine embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. She made her debut performance at the Salle Pleyel in Paris in 1983, where she received critical acclaim for her performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14. Her performance was described as "mesmerizing" and "spellbinding," and it marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career. Over the years, Christine performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Christine's most memorable performances was at the 1992 Proms in London, where she performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the London Symphony Orchestra. Her performance was hailed as "a triumph" and "one of the greatest performances of the concerto ever heard." Christine was also a prolific recording artist, and she recorded over 20 albums during her career. Her recordings received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque and the Diapason d'Or. In addition to her career as a concert pianist, Christine was also a dedicated teacher. She taught at the Conservatoire de Paris and the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where she inspired and mentored many young musicians. Throughout her career, Christine received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the world of music. In 1998, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the arts. She was also awarded the Prix de la Fondation de France in 2005 for her contributions to the development of classical music. Tragically, Christine's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and record, and her final album, released in 2010, was hailed as a "testament to her artistry and dedication to music." Christine Simonin passed away on 15th January 2011, at the age of 50. Her death was a great loss to the world of music, but her legacy lives on through her recordings and the many musicians she inspired and mentored throughout her career.More....
