He was the son of a musician, and his father, Gaetano Araia, was a composer and a violinist. Francesco grew up in a musical family and received his early musical training from his father. At the age of 14, Francesco was appointed as a violinist in the orchestra of the Royal Chapel in Naples. He quickly gained recognition for his musical talent and was soon appointed as the concertmaster of the orchestra. In addition to his work as a violinist, Francesco also began to compose music, and his first opera, "La forza della virtù," was performed in Naples in 1732. Francesco's career as a composer continued to flourish, and he went on to compose numerous operas, oratorios, and cantatas. In 1740, he was appointed as the maestro di cappella at the Royal Chapel in Naples, a position he held until his death.
