Born in Mexico City, Mexico, on August 15, 1964, Ambriz showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ambriz received her formal music education at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Manuel M. Ponce. She graduated with honors in 1986 and went on to pursue further studies in the United States.
