Born in Geneva in 1989, Perrenoud began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He received his first formal training at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Dominique Weber. Perrenoud's early years as a musician were marked by a series of notable achievements and awards. In 2003, he won first prize at the Concours National de Piano de Sion, a prestigious competition for young pianists in Switzerland. This success was followed by a string of other awards, including first prize at the Concours International de Piano de Lagny-sur-Marne in France and the Prix de la Fondation Leenaards, a major Swiss cultural award. As a teenager, Perrenoud continued to hone his skills as a pianist, studying with some of the most respected teachers in Europe. He spent several years in Paris, where he worked with renowned pianist and pedagogue Jacques Rouvier at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He also studied with pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin, where he was mentored by some of the most distinguished musicians in the world. Perrenoud's career as a professional pianist began to take off in the early 2010s, when he began performing at major concert halls and festivals around the world. He made his debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2011, performing a program of works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Liszt to critical acclaim. This performance was followed by appearances at other major venues, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York. One of Perrenoud's most notable performances came in 2014, when he performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under the direction of conductor Neeme Järvi. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Perrenoud's technical mastery and emotional depth. The concert was later released as a live recording on the Pentatone label, further cementing Perrenoud's reputation as one of the most exciting young pianists of his generation. In addition to his work as a soloist, Perrenoud is also an accomplished chamber musician and collaborator. He has performed with some of the most respected musicians in the world, including violinist Renaud Capuçon, cellist Gautier Capuçon, and clarinetist Martin Fröst. He is also a member of the Geneva Piano Trio, which he founded with violinist David Castro-Balbi and cellist François Salque in 2012. Perrenoud's repertoire is wide-ranging and eclectic, encompassing works by composers from Bach to Ligeti. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the Romantic repertoire, including works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is also a champion of contemporary music, having premiered works by composers such as Michael Jarrell and Thierry Escaich. Throughout his career, Perrenoud has been recognized for his exceptional talent and artistry. In addition to the awards he received as a young pianist, he has been the recipient of numerous other honors, including the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes and the Prix Thierry Scherz.More....
