Ensemble Consolazione is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in Berlin, Germany, and is known for its innovative and dynamic performances of classical and contemporary music. The founding members of Ensemble Consolazione were violinist Anna-Lena Perenthaler, violist Johanna Ruppert, cellist Johannes Krebs, and pianist Florian Feilmair. All four musicians had studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and had already gained experience performing in various chamber music ensembles before coming together to form Ensemble Consolazione. The ensemble's name, Consolazione, is Italian for "consolation" or "comfort," and reflects the group's desire to bring comfort and solace to their audiences through their music. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. One of the highlights of Ensemble Consolazione's early career was their performance at the 2013 International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. The ensemble was selected to participate in the festival's Young Talent Program, which showcases promising young chamber music ensembles from around the world. The ensemble's performance was well-received by both the audience and the festival organizers, and helped to establish the group's reputation as a rising star in the world of classical music. Since then, Ensemble Consolazione has gone on to perform at numerous prestigious venues and festivals throughout Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with a number of renowned musicians, including pianist Mitsuko Uchida and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In addition to their live performances, Ensemble Consolazione has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "Mozart: The Piano Quartets," was released in 2015 and received widespread praise for its sensitive and nuanced interpretations of Mozart's chamber music. The ensemble's second album, "Glass: Piano Quartet," was released in 2018 and featured works by the contemporary composer Philip Glass. Ensemble Consolazione has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2016, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious German Record Critics' Award for their recording of Mozart's piano quartets. The following year, they were awarded the Echo Klassik Award for their recording of Schubert's "Trout" Quintet. Despite their success, the members of Ensemble Consolazione remain committed to their original mission of bringing comfort and solace to their audiences through their music. They continue to perform regularly throughout Europe and are widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative chamber music ensembles of their generation.More....
