She was born into a family of musicians, and her father, Ernesto Tipo, was a well-known pianist and composer. Maria Tipo began playing the piano at the age of four, and her father was her first teacher. Tipo's talent was evident from a young age, and she quickly gained recognition for her exceptional musical abilities. She made her debut performance at the age of 12, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major with the RAI Symphony Orchestra in Naples.
