Born in Montreal, Canada, on August 22, 1961, Myssyk grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, which exposed him to music at a young age. Myssyk began his musical journey by learning to play the piano at the age of five. He later switched to the violin and studied under the tutelage of his father. Myssyk's passion for music continued to grow, and he eventually decided to pursue a career in music. In 1983, Myssyk graduated from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec with a degree in violin performance. He then went on to study conducting at the Université de Montréal, where he earned a master's degree in 1987.
