Håkon Thelin is a Norwegian double bassist and composer who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born on August 22, 1960, in Oslo, Norway, Thelin grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical pianist. Thelin started playing the double bass at the age of 14 and quickly developed a passion for the instrument. Thelin studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he received his diploma in 1983. He then went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, where he received his soloist diploma in 1987.
