Trio Isimsiz is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009. The ensemble consists of three members: Erdem Misirlioglu on piano, Pablo Hernán Benedí on violin, and Michael Petrov on cello. The trio has gained recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music. Erdem Misirlioglu, the pianist of the group, was born in Turkey and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Club Prize. Pablo Hernán Benedí, the violinist, was born in Spain and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has won several awards, including the Royal College of Music Concerto Competition. Michael Petrov, the cellist, was born in Bulgaria and began playing the cello at the age of four. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and has won several awards, including the Royal College of Music Concerto Competition. The trio first met while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and began playing together as Trio Isimsiz. The name "Isimsiz" means "nameless" in Turkish, and was chosen to reflect the trio's focus on the music itself rather than individual recognition. Since their formation, Trio Isimsiz has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals around the world. In 2015, they won the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition, which helped to launch their international career. They have also won the Royal Philharmonic Society's Albert and Eugenie Frost Prize and the Elias Fawcett Award for Outstanding Chamber Ensemble at the Royal Overseas League Competition. One of the highlights of Trio Isimsiz's career was their performance at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2017. The concert featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann, and was praised by critics for its "impressive technical control and musical sensitivity." The trio has also performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Cheltenham Music Festival, and the Bath International Music Festival. Trio Isimsiz is known for their innovative programming, which often includes lesser-known works alongside more familiar pieces. They are particularly interested in exploring the music of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and have commissioned several new works from composers in these regions.
