The Rheinland-Pfalz Landesjugendchor is a classical music choir that was founded in 1979 in the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. The choir is made up of young singers between the ages of 16 and 27 who are selected through a rigorous audition process. In 1992, the choir performed at the Salzburg Festival, one of the most important classical music festivals in the world. The choir's performance was met with critical acclaim, and they were invited back to the festival in 1994. In 1996, the choir performed at the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the most famous concert halls in the world. The concert was a huge success, and the choir received a standing ovation from the audience. The choir has also performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and the Musikverein in Vienna. The Rheinland-Pfalz Landesjugendchor has won numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1990, the choir won first prize at the International Choir Competition in Budapest, Hungary. In 1992, they won first prize at the International Choir Competition in Tolosa, Spain. In 1994, they won first prize at the International Choir Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. In 1998, the choir was awarded the Rheinland-Pfalz Culture Prize for their outstanding work in promoting music education and cultural exchange. The Rheinland-Pfalz Landesjugendchor has recorded several albums over the years, including "Lobet den Herrn," "Singet dem Herrn," and "Jubilate Deo." Their recordings have been praised for their technical excellence and musicality. Today, the Rheinland-Pfalz Landesjugendchor continues to be one of the most respected and admired choirs in Germany and Europe. The choir is led by conductor and music educator, Professor Markus Teutschbein, who has been with the choir since 2003.
