Role:EnsembleGenre:FilmVocalEnglish Serenata is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1998 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in London, England, and has become known for its innovative and dynamic performances of classical music. The founding members of English Serenata were violinist David Juritz, cellist Adrian Bradbury, and pianist John Lenehan. All three musicians had extensive experience performing in orchestras and chamber ensembles, and they were eager to explore the possibilities of playing together as a trio. From the beginning, English Serenata was committed to performing a wide range of classical music, from the Baroque era to the present day. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Shostakovich, as well as contemporary composers like John Adams and Arvo Pärt. One of the highlights of English Serenata's early years was a performance at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2000. The ensemble received critical acclaim for their interpretation of Beethoven's "Archduke" Trio, and the concert helped to establish English Serenata as one of the leading chamber ensembles in the UK. Over the years, English Serenata has expanded its membership to include a number of other talented musicians. Today, the ensemble includes violinists David Juritz and Harriet Mackenzie, violist Sarah-Jane Bradley, cellist Adrian Bradbury, and pianist John Lenehan. English Serenata has performed at many of the world's leading concert halls and festivals, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Edinburgh Festival, and the Salzburg Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with a number of other musicians and ensembles, including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the London Mozart Players. In addition to their live performances, English Serenata has released several critically acclaimed recordings. These include a CD of Beethoven's complete piano trios, which was praised by Gramophone magazine for its "impeccable musicianship and interpretive insight." English Serenata has also been recognized with a number of awards and honors over the years. In 2003, the ensemble was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Chamber Music Award, which is one of the most prestigious awards in classical music. The award recognized English Serenata's "outstanding contribution to the chamber music repertoire." In 2018, English Serenata celebrated its 20th anniversary with a series of concerts and events. The ensemble continues to be a leading force in the world of classical music, and its members are committed to exploring new and innovative ways of presenting and performing classical music for audiences around the world.More....
