She was the daughter of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a singer, which inspired her to pursue a career in music. Lena Lootens started playing the piano at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. She received her first piano lessons from her father and later studied at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. She continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she received a degree in piano performance. Lena Lootens made her debut as a soloist with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 18. Her performance was well-received, and she was praised for her technical skill and musicality. This performance marked the beginning of her career as a concert pianist. Throughout her career, Lena Lootens performed extensively in Europe, Asia, and the United States. She was known for her interpretations of the works of Chopin, Beethoven, and Mozart. Her performances were characterized by her technical precision, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth. One of the highlights of Lena Lootens' career was her performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1987. She performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the Emperor Concerto, with the London Symphony Orchestra.
