Margit Rahkonen was a Finnish classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1936, in Helsinki, Finland. She was the daughter of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a violinist, so it was no surprise that Margit showed an interest in music from a young age. Margit began her musical education at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where she studied violin and piano. She was a talented musician and quickly gained recognition for her skills. In 1957, she won the first prize in the national violin competition in Finland, which was a significant achievement for a young musician. After completing her studies at the Sibelius Academy, Margit continued her education in Paris, where she studied with the renowned violinist Henryk Szeryng. She also studied with other famous musicians, including Yehudi Menuhin and Nathan Milstein. Margit's career as a professional musician began in the 1960s when she started performing in concerts and recitals. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician who could play a wide range of music styles. She was particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Finnish composers, such as Jean Sibelius and Einojuhani Rautavaara. Margit's career reached new heights in the 1970s when she started performing with some of the world's leading orchestras. She played with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. She also performed in major music festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. One of the highlights of Margit's career was her performance of Sibelius's Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1975.
