Daniel Oyarzabal is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Bilbao, Spain in 1987, Oyarzabal showed an early aptitude for music, beginning piano lessons at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already performing in public concerts. Oyarzabal's musical education was rigorous and comprehensive. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Bilbao, where he received a degree in piano performance with honors. He then went on to pursue further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where he studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Pavel Gililov. During his time in Germany, Oyarzabal won several prestigious awards, including the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Valencia and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. Oyarzabal's career as a professional pianist began in earnest in 2010, when he won the top prize at the International Piano Competition in Santander. This victory brought him to the attention of the international classical music community, and he soon began receiving invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. One of Oyarzabal's most notable performances came in 2012, when he was invited to perform at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland. This festival is known for showcasing the world's most talented young musicians, and Oyarzabal's performance was widely praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. He went on to perform at the festival again in 2014, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting young pianists of his generation. In addition to his solo performances, Oyarzabal is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including violinist Renaud Capuçon and cellist Gautier Capuçon. Together, they have performed at major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Lincoln Center in New York. Oyarzabal's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by some of the greatest composers in the classical canon, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Spanish composers, such as Manuel de Falla and Isaac Albéniz. His performances of these works are marked by a deep understanding of the music's cultural and historical context, as well as a profound emotional connection to the music itself. Throughout his career, Oyarzabal has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In addition to the prizes he won early in his career, he has also been awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship for a second time, as well as the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. These awards have allowed him to continue to develop his artistry and to bring his music to audiences around the world.
