Exaudi is a contemporary classical music ensemble that was founded in 2002 by James Weeks, a British composer and conductor. The ensemble is based in London and is known for its innovative and experimental approach to music-making. The founding of Exaudi was a result of Weeks' desire to create a group that would explore the possibilities of contemporary vocal music. He wanted to bring together a group of singers who were not only skilled in traditional choral singing but also had a passion for exploring new and unconventional vocal techniques. The ensemble's core members include sopranos Juliet Fraser and Lucy Goddard, mezzo-soprano Rebecca Lodge, tenors Tom Williams and Stephen Jeffes, and bass Jonathan Arnold. Exaudi's repertoire is diverse and includes works by contemporary composers such as Michael Finnissy, Cassandra Miller, and Laurence Crane, as well as pieces by historical figures like John Cage and Morton Feldman. One of Exaudi's most notable performances was at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in 2006, where they performed a program of works by Michael Finnissy. In addition to their performances, Exaudi has also received numerous awards and accolades for their recordings. Their album "Wandelweiser und so weiter" was named one of the best classical albums of 2014 by The Guardian, and their recording of Michael Finnissy's "St Luke Passion" was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019.
