Beijing Guitar Duo is a classical music ensemble that has gained international recognition for their exceptional performances and unique sound. The duo consists of Meng Su and Yameng Wang, both of whom are accomplished guitarists in their own right. The ensemble was founded in 2009 and has since become one of the most sought-after guitar duos in the world. Meng Su and Yameng Wang both began playing the guitar at a young age and quickly developed a passion for the instrument. They both went on to study at the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where they met and formed a close friendship. After completing their studies, they decided to form a guitar duo and began performing together. The duo's first major performance was at the 2010 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, where they won first prize. This was a significant achievement for the duo, as it helped to establish them as a serious force in the classical guitar world. Since then, they have gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall. One of the highlights of the duo's career was their performance at the 2012 Beijing International Guitar Festival, where they performed a program of Chinese and Western classical music. This performance was particularly significant because it showcased the duo's unique sound, which blends traditional Chinese music with Western classical music. This fusion of styles has become a hallmark of the duo's sound and has helped to set them apart from other classical guitar ensembles. In addition to their performances, the duo has also received numerous awards and accolades for their recordings. Their debut album, "Maracaípe," was released in 2011 and received critical acclaim. The album features a mix of classical guitar repertoire, including works by Bach, Scarlatti, and Piazzolla, as well as traditional Chinese music. The duo's second album, "Bach to Tan Dun," was released in 2013 and features works by Bach, as well as contemporary Chinese composer Tan Dun. The duo's success has also led to numerous collaborations with other musicians and ensembles. They have performed with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, and the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, among others. They have also collaborated with other guitarists, including the Brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon and the Spanish guitarist Pepe Romero. Despite their success, Meng Su and Yameng Wang remain humble and dedicated to their craft. They continue to practice and perform regularly, always striving to improve their skills and push the boundaries of what is possible on the guitar. Their dedication and passion for music have made them one of the most exciting and innovative classical guitar ensembles in the world today.More....
