Couden attended the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. During her time at the university, she studied under the tutelage of renowned vocal coach Martin Katz. After completing her undergraduate studies, Couden went on to pursue a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
