The American Chamber Players is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 35 years. The ensemble was founded in 1985 by Miles Hoffman, a violist and music critic, who wanted to create a group that would showcase the beauty and versatility of chamber music. The ensemble's main members include Miles Hoffman on viola, Joanna Maurer on violin, Sarah Hart on cello, and Anna Stoytcheva on piano. Over the years, the ensemble has also collaborated with a number of guest artists, including clarinetist David Shifrin, flutist Tara Helen O'Connor, and cellist Carter Brey. The American Chamber Players have performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Library of Congress. They have also toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, earning critical acclaim for their virtuosic performances and innovative programming. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was their performance at the White House in 1993, where they played for President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton. In 1992, they were awarded the Chamber Music America/WQXR Record Award for their album "Mozart: The Piano Quartets." They were also named the "Ensemble of the Year" by the Washington Post in 1993.
