Dehaene's early career was marked by a series of impressive performances and competition wins. In 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Ettlingen, Germany, and in 2007 he was awarded the Grand Prix du Piano at the International Piano Competition in Lagny-sur-Marne, France. These early successes helped to establish Dehaene as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2010, Dehaene made his debut at the prestigious Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, where he performed a program of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Ravel to critical acclaim.
