The ensemble is made up of three members: violinist Julie-Anne Derome, cellist Gabriel Prynn, and pianist Wonny Song. Prynn has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He has also been a member of the Molinari Quartet and has recorded several albums with the group. Wonny Song, the pianist of the trio, was born in Seoul, South Korea and began playing the piano at the age of four. He studied at the Juilliard School in New York and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany. Song has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He has also been a member of the Molinari Quartet and has recorded several albums with the group. The trio's name, Fibonacci, is derived from the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical sequence in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers. The trio chose this name to reflect their belief in the importance of structure and balance in music. Since their founding in 1998, Trio Fibonacci has performed extensively throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. They have performed at many prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Wigmore Hall in London.
