Philharmonia Vocalensemble Stuttgart is a renowned classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over 70 years. The ensemble was founded in 1945 by conductor and composer, Ferdinand Leitner, and has since become one of the most respected vocal ensembles in the world. The ensemble is made up of 32 professional singers who are known for their exceptional vocal abilities and their ability to perform a wide range of classical music genres. The ensemble has a diverse repertoire that includes works from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary periods. Over the years, Philharmonia Vocalensemble Stuttgart has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras in the world, including Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. One of the highlights of Philharmonia Vocalensemble Stuttgart's career was their performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion in 1965. The performance was conducted by Ferdinand Leitner and featured soloists Fritz Wunderlich and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. The performance was widely acclaimed and is still considered one of the greatest performances of the St. Matthew Passion to this day. In addition to their performances, Philharmonia Vocalensemble Stuttgart has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 1999, they were awarded the Echo Klassik award for their recording of Bach's Mass in B Minor. They have also been awarded the Diapason d'Or and the Gramophone Award for their recordings of Handel's Messiah and Bach's St. John Passion.
