Jennie Oh is a classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Oh began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the Yewon School, a prestigious music academy in Seoul, where she received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory. Oh's talent continued to blossom as she grew older, and she soon began to attract attention from music professionals and critics. In 2005, she won first prize in the Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition, one of the most prestigious music competitions in Korea. This victory brought her to the attention of the wider music community, and she was soon invited to perform at major venues and festivals throughout Asia. In 2007, Oh moved to the United States to pursue her musical studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied with some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Emanuel Ax and Yoheved Kaplinsky. She also had the opportunity to perform in some of the city's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Oh's talent and hard work paid off in 2010, when she won first prize in the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. This victory was a major milestone in her career, and it brought her to the attention of music lovers and critics around the world. She was praised for her technical skill, her musical sensitivity, and her ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. Since then, Oh has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Ravinia Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Seoul Arts Center. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras in the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic. Oh's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by some of the greatest composers in the classical tradition, including Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the music of Franz Liszt, a composer who is known for his virtuosic piano writing and his innovative approach to form and structure. In addition to her performing career, Oh is also a dedicated teacher and mentor.
