Her parents, who were both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ana Maria began her musical training at the age of six, studying the piano with her mother. She quickly showed a natural aptitude for the instrument and progressed rapidly. By the age of ten, she had already won several local competitions and had begun performing in public. Her performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111, was hailed by the judges as "a revelation of the highest order." The win catapulted Ana Maria to international fame and led to numerous invitations to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras. Over the years, Ana Maria has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
