James Creitz was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, James showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. James received his formal music education at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned pianists of the time. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2007 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the same institution. During his time at Juilliard, James participated in numerous competitions and won several awards. In 2005, he won the Juilliard Concerto Competition, which gave him the opportunity to perform with the Juilliard Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall. He also won the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in 2006, which earned him a scholarship to attend the International Piano Academy in Lake Como, Italy. After completing his studies at Juilliard, James embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of James' most notable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2010. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, under the baton of conductor Alan Gilbert. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The New York Times describing James' playing as "virtuosic and deeply expressive." In addition to his solo performances, James has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with many renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Gustavo Dudamel. James has also recorded several albums throughout his career.
