After completing his studies at the Naples Conservatory, Manno continued his education at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. There, he studied under some of the most renowned musicians of the time, including Franco Ferrara and Carlo Maria Giulini. Manno's career as a professional musician began in the early 1970s, when he began performing in concerts and recitals throughout Italy.
