The Ural Philharmonic Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The orchestra was founded in 1936 as the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Orchestra, and it has since become one of the most renowned orchestras in Russia. The Ural Philharmonic Orchestra has had many notable conductors throughout its history, including Dmitry Liss, who has been the orchestra's artistic director and chief conductor since 1995. Liss has led the orchestra to many successes, including winning the Grand Prix at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1998. The orchestra's main members include over 100 musicians, including string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The orchestra also has a choir, which performs with the orchestra on occasion.
