Daniela Candillari is a highly accomplished classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a conductor, pianist, and composer. Born in Italy, Candillari began her musical journey at a young age, showing a natural talent for the piano. She went on to study at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, honing her skills and developing her unique style. Early Life and Education Candillari was born in Rome, Italy, in 1986. Her parents were both musicians, and they encouraged her to pursue music from a young age. She began playing the piano when she was just four years old, and it quickly became clear that she had a natural talent for the instrument. At the age of 10, Candillari was accepted into the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, one of the most prestigious music schools in Italy. She studied there for several years, honing her skills and developing her musical style. In 2004, Candillari was awarded a scholarship to attend the Juilliard School in New York City. She moved to the United States and began studying piano under the tutelage of Yoheved Kaplinsky, one of the most renowned piano teachers in the world. While at Juilliard, Candillari also began studying conducting, which would become her primary focus in the years to come. Career Highlights Candillari's career as a conductor began to take off in the early 2010s. She served as the assistant conductor of the Dallas Opera from 2010 to 2012, where she worked on productions of works by composers such as Verdi, Puccini, and Mozart. In 2013, Candillari was appointed the assistant conductor of the Spoleto Festival USA, one of the most prestigious music festivals in the world. She worked closely with the festival's music director, Emmanuel Villaume, and conducted several performances during the festival's 17-day run. Candillari's career continued to flourish in the years that followed. She served as the assistant conductor of the New York City Opera from 2014 to 2015, where she conducted productions of works by composers such as Puccini, Rossini, and Donizetti. In 2016, Candillari made her debut with the New York Philharmonic, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. She conducted a program of works by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Candillari has also made a name for herself as a composer. Her works have been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the Dallas Opera, and the Spoleto Festival USA. Awards and Honors Candillari's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the Bruno Walter Memorial Scholarship by the Juilliard School, which is given to outstanding conducting students. In 2014, Candillari was named one of the "Top 30 Professionals Under 30" by Musical America, a leading publication in the classical music industry. The following year, she was awarded the Solti Foundation US Career Assistance Award, which is given to young conductors who show exceptional promise. In 2017, Candillari was named the music director of the Queens Symphony Orchestra, a position she still holds today.
