Montserrat Aparici was born on May 12, 1985, in Barcelona, Spain. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned classical guitarist and her mother a pianist. From a young age, Aparici showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of four. As she grew older, Aparici's passion for music only intensified, and she began to explore other instruments, including the violin and cello. However, it was the harp that captured her heart, and she began studying the instrument at the age of 12. Aparici's dedication to her craft was evident from the start, and she quickly became one of the most promising young harpists in Spain. She won numerous competitions and awards, including first prize in the National Harp Competition in 2001 and the International Harp Competition in 2003. In 2004, Aparici was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the tutelage of renowned harpist Nancy Allen. During her time at Juilliard, Aparici continued to excel, winning the school's concerto competition in 2006 and performing as a soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra. After graduating from Juilliard in 2008, Aparici embarked on a successful career as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Aparici's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to bring out the unique qualities of the harp, creating a rich and nuanced sound that captivates audiences. In addition to her work as a performer, Aparici is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Conservatoire de Paris. Throughout her career, Aparici has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a significant career in music. In 2015, Aparici released her debut album, "Harp Dreams," which features a collection of works by some of the greatest composers for the harp, including Debussy, Ravel, and Britten. The album was met with critical acclaim and helped to establish Aparici as one of the leading harpists of her generation. Today, Aparici continues to perform and teach around the world, inspiring a new generation of musicians with her passion and dedication to the harp. Her contributions to the world of classical music have been significant, and she remains a beloved and respected figure in the music community.
