She was born into a family of musicians, and her father was a well-known conductor in Romania. Schuldmann began playing the piano at a young age and showed exceptional talent from the start. Schuldmann's family fled Romania during World War II and settled in Palestine. There, she continued her musical education and studied with renowned pianist and teacher, Mindru Katz. Schuldmann's talent continued to flourish, and she won several competitions, including the prestigious Harriet Cohen International Music Award in London. In 1951, Schuldmann moved to the United States to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. She studied with Rosina Lhévinne, a legendary piano teacher who had taught some of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. Schuldmann's time at Juilliard was transformative, and she honed her skills as a pianist and performer. Schuldmann made her debut at Carnegie Hall in 1955, and her performance was met with critical acclaim. She quickly became known for her technical prowess and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she played.
