Katherine Jenkinson is a renowned cellist in the world of classical music. Born in 1982 in London, England, Jenkinson grew up in a family of musicians. Her father, Stephen Jenkinson, was a cellist in the London Symphony Orchestra, and her mother, Gillian Tingay, was a pianist. Jenkinson began playing the cello at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Jenkinson attended the Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey, England, where she studied with renowned cellist William Pleeth.
