Le Jeune Choeur de Paris was founded in 1986 with the aim of promoting choral music from the Renaissance to contemporary periods. The choir's name, which translates to "The Young Choir of Paris," reflects its commitment to showcasing the work of young composers and musicians. The choir's repertoire includes works by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Francis Poulenc, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and John Tavener. The choir's first major performance was in 1987 at the Festival de Musique de Saintes in France. The choir's performance was well-received, and it quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional sound and musicality. In 1988, the choir won first prize at the Florilège Vocal de Tours, a prestigious choral competition in France. This was a significant achievement for the choir, as it was competing against some of the best choirs in the country. Over the years, Le Jeune Choeur de Paris has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Lincoln Center in New York. The choir has also performed at numerous festivals, including the Festival de Musique de Saintes, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, and the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. One of the choir's most memorable performances was in 1999, when it performed at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. The choir's performance was part of a special concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pope's pontificate. The choir performed works by Mozart, Poulenc, and Tavener, among others, and received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to its performances, Le Jeune Choeur de Paris has also released several recordings over the years. Its first recording, "Messe de Tournai," was released in 1990 and featured works by Renaissance composers. The choir has since released several other recordings, including "Messe de Notre-Dame" by Guillaume de Machaut and "Requiem" by Maurice Duruflé.
