Robert Weirich is a renowned classical pianist and professor of music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. Born in 1953 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Weirich began playing the piano at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Throughout his career, Weirich has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, both in the United States and abroad. He has appeared with numerous orchestras, including the St. Louis Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many distinguished musicians, such as violinist Cho-Liang Lin, cellist Lynn Harrell, and soprano Dawn Upshaw. Weirich has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances, including the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1984. He has also been a finalist in several international piano competitions, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition. In addition to his performing career, Weirich is also a highly respected educator. He has been a member of the faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance since 1986, where he currently serves as the chair of the keyboard division. He has also taught at the Juilliard School, the Eastman School of Music, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Weirich is known for his passionate and expressive playing style, as well as his deep knowledge and understanding of the classical repertoire. He has recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed set of the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel.
