Pro Musica Chamber Choir is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their beautiful harmonies and impeccable performances for over 40 years. Founded in 1979 by conductor and music educator, Dr. Timothy Mount, the choir has become one of the most respected and renowned choral groups in the United States. Dr. Mount, who served as the choir's artistic director for over 30 years, had a vision of creating a chamber choir that would perform a wide range of choral music, from the Renaissance to contemporary works. He handpicked the choir's members, selecting only the most talented and dedicated singers from the greater Columbus, Ohio area. The choir's first performance was in December 1979, and it was an immediate success. The group's unique sound and exceptional musicianship quickly earned them a loyal following, and they began to receive invitations to perform at prestigious venues and events throughout the country. Over the years, Pro Musica Chamber Choir has had many talented members, but some of the most notable include sopranos Susan Wallin and Karen Peeler, tenors David Hurwitz and David Troup, and basses David Schildkret and David Rayl. These singers, along with many others, have helped to shape the choir's sound and reputation. One of the highlights of the choir's early years was their performance at the 1982 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Convention in New Orleans. This was a significant achievement for the choir, as it was the first time they had been invited to perform at a national event. The choir's performance was met with critical acclaim, and it helped to establish them as one of the premier choral groups in the country. In 1985, Pro Musica Chamber Choir released their first album, "A Pro Musica Christmas." The album featured a collection of traditional Christmas carols and was well-received by both critics and audiences. The choir has since released several other albums, including "A Pro Musica Christmas II" and "A Pro Musica Christmas III." In addition to their recordings, Pro Musica Chamber Choir has also performed with some of the most respected orchestras in the country, including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. They have also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Robert Shaw, John Rutter, and Helmuth Rilling. One of the choir's most memorable performances was their 1992 concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert, which was part of the "Carnegie Hall Presents" series, featured a program of works by Bach, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. The choir's performance was met with a standing ovation, and it helped to solidify their reputation as one of the best choral groups in the world. Over the years, Pro Musica Chamber Choir has received numerous awards and accolades for their exceptional performances. In 1994, they were awarded the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America, a national organization that supports and promotes choral music. They have also been recognized by the Ohio Arts Council and the Greater Columbus Arts Council for their contributions to the arts in Ohio. In 2010, Dr. Mount retired as the choir's artistic director, and he was succeeded by Dr. Mark Munson. Under Dr.
