From a young age, Selig showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Selig's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Selig developed a deep understanding and appreciation for classical music. At the age of 12, Selig made his debut performance at Carnegie Hall, one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world. He played Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14, also known as the "Moonlight Sonata," to a standing ovation. This performance marked the beginning of Selig's career as a professional musician. Selig continued to hone his skills and expand his repertoire, studying with other renowned pianists such as Martha Argerich and Maurizio Pollini. He also attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. Throughout his career, Selig has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Selig's most notable performances was his rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2010. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Selig's technical skill and emotional depth. Selig has also won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2008, he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world.
