Born on September 27, 1987, in Berkeley, California, Abrams grew up in a musical family and began playing the piano at a young age. His parents were both musicians, and his father was a conductor, so music was always a part of his life. As a child, Abrams was drawn to a wide variety of music, from classical to jazz to rock. He was particularly interested in improvisation and composition, and he began writing his own music at a young age. He also showed a talent for conducting, and he conducted his first orchestra when he was just 10 years old. After graduating from high school, Abrams attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied conducting with Otto-Werner Mueller and piano with Eleanor Sokoloff. He quickly made a name for himself in Detroit, and he was soon appointed as the orchestra's resident conductor. In this role, he conducted a wide variety of concerts, including classical, pops, and family concerts. In addition to his work with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Abrams has also conducted many other orchestras around the world.
