Jordi Torrent is a renowned classical guitarist and composer from Catalonia, Spain. He was born on December 22, 1968, in Barcelona, Spain. From a young age, Jordi showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. He began playing the guitar at the age of six and quickly developed a natural talent for the instrument. Jordi's early musical education was influenced by his father, who was a music teacher. He received his first formal guitar lessons from his father and later studied under the guidance of renowned guitarists such as Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, and Pepe Romero. Jordi also attended the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, where he studied music theory, composition, and orchestration. In 1990, Jordi won the prestigious Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition, which marked the beginning of his professional career as a classical guitarist. He went on to win several other international competitions, including the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and the Alhambra International Guitar Competition in Granada, Spain.
