Marie Chilemme is a French classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violist and chamber musician. Born on May 22, 1987, in Toulouse, France, Marie grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a cellist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Marie was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. However, it was not until she was 12 years old that she discovered her love for the viola. Marie's talent as a violist was quickly recognized, and she began studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) at the age of 16. She studied under the guidance of Jean Sulem, a renowned violist, and chamber musician. During her time at the CNSMDP, Marie won several awards, including the First Prize in Viola and Chamber Music. After completing her studies at the CNSMDP, Marie continued her education at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she studied with Tabea Zimmermann, one of the world's leading violists. During her time in Berlin, Marie also had the opportunity to work with other renowned musicians, including Menahem Pressler, Ivry Gitlis, and Gidon Kremer. Marie's career as a professional musician began in 2010 when she was appointed as the principal violist of the Orchestre National de France. She held this position for four years before deciding to focus on her career as a chamber musician. Since then, Marie has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Quatuor Ebène, the Modigliani Quartet, and the Trio Wanderer. One of the highlights of Marie's career was her performance at the 2014 Verbier Festival, where she performed with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Gábor Takács-Nagy. The performance was highly acclaimed, and Marie was praised for her "rich, warm tone" and "impeccable technique." In addition to her work as a performer, Marie is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at several prestigious institutions, including the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. Marie is also a regular guest teacher at the Verbier Festival Academy, where she works with young musicians from around the world. Marie has received several awards and honors throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the Prix Thierry Scherz, which is given to young musicians who show exceptional promise. In 2015, she was awarded the Prix de la Fondation Safran pour la Musique, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in France. Marie is known for her versatility as a musician and her ability to perform a wide range of repertoire. She has recorded several albums, including a recording of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante with the Orchestre National de France and a recording of Schubert's String Quintet with the Quatuor Ebène. In addition to her work as a musician, Marie is also a passionate advocate for the arts. She is a member of the board of directors of the Fondation Royaumont, which supports young musicians and composers, and she is also a member of the board of directors of the Fondation Banque Populaire, which supports cultural initiatives in France. In conclusion, Marie Chilemme is a talented and versatile musician who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music.More....
